Learning Islam is a series of Islamic studies textbooks that introduces Middle School Muslim students to the essentials of their faith, and brings to light the historic and cultural aspects of Islam in elaborate manner. The series covers grades sixth through eighth, and includes a student textbook and workbook as well as a teacher’s edition. This series builds upon the ISF’s primary series “I Love Islam” which covers grades 1-5. The Islamic Services Foundation is undertaking this project in collaboration with Brighter Horizons Academy in Dallas, Texas. Extensive efforts have been made to review the enclosed material. However, constructive suggestions and comments that would enrich the content of this work are welcome. All Praise is due to Allah (God), for providing us with the resources that have enabled us to complete the first part of this series. This is an ongoing project, and it is our sincere wish and hope that it will impact our Muslim children today, and for many years to come.This parent/teacher guide is intended to assist instructors/parents throughout the teaching process. It guides the instructor/parent to focus on the main idea in the lesson, allowing them to effectively deliver the message to the student(s). The parent/teacher guide also provides key content summaries of each lesson and supplies answers to the critical thinking/study questions from the textbook.

Learning Islam 1 is for students in sixth grade. It is best for students who studied Islamic Studies using the I Love Islam series in grades 1–5. This volume contains lessons that cover lively character building themes extracted from the Qur’an, hadeeth, faith, seerah, and other authentic sources. The Islamic themes and concepts are presented in an exciting and creative manner. The book includes five units and around forty chapters and lessons. The titles of the units are The Wonderful Unseen World, Faith and Miracles: The Story of Prophet Musa, al-Qur’an al-Kareem: The Last Holy Book, Prophet Muhammad Calls for Peace, and Pray and Give Charity. Each chapter includes outlines, relevant Islamic vocabulary, succinct and objective material, and relevant stories. To make the material meaningful and action oriented, the themes of the book are supported by highlighted passages from the Qur’an and Hadeeth from the Prophet.
