Amira’s Picture Day
Ramadan has come to an end, and Amira can't wait to stay home from school to celebrate Eid. There's just one hiccup: it's also school picture day. How can Amira be in two places at once? Just the thought of Eid makes Amira warm and tingly inside. From wearing new clothes to handing out goody bags at the mosque, Amira can't wait for the festivities to begin. But when a flier on the fridge catches her eye, Amira's stomach goes cold. Not only is it Eid, but it's also school picture day. If she's not in her class picture, how will her classmates remember her? Won't her teacher wonder where she is? Though the day's celebrations at the mosque are everything Amira was dreaming of, her absence at picture day weighs on her. A last-minute idea on the car ride home might just provide the solution to everything in this delightful story from acclaimed author Reem Faruqi, illustrated with vibrant color by Fahmida Azim.

An Umrah Guide دليل العمرة
Every year millions of Muslims travel to Mecca to perform Umrah, an act of worship and devotion. They travel to refresh their faith, seek forgiveness, and pray for their needs. When you prepare to perform Umrah for the first time, it’s natural to have questions. Here’s the book you need. It’s a comprehensive guide which contains everything you’ll want to know about the pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina. You will discover in-depth details about the pilgrimage, its history rituals, its significance, and key features. It’s ideal for students and young people, new Muslims, families with children and adolescents, and persons with disabilities. Focusing on Umrah (rather than the major Islamic pilgrimage, the Hajj), this guide covers the views according to all four Sunni Schools of Islamic jurisprudence. Written by a Muslim chaplain married couple, it offers both male and female perspectives of the experience. This fresh and contemporary guide will educate and inspire young Muslims to perform Umrah in the best and most religiously precautious manner possible About the Author: Khalil Abdur-Rashid & Samia Omar: Imam Dr. Khalil Abdur-Rashid is the first full-time University Muslim Chaplain at Harvard University, Instructor of Muslim Studies at Harvard Divinity School, and Public Policy Lecturer at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He serves all Muslim students at Harvard, supervises the staff of the Harvard University Office of the Chaplain and also serves on the Board of Religious, Spiritual and Ethical Life at Harvard. Samia Omar is an Egyptian American who completed her bachelor's degree in social work and has pursued a master's degree at SMU in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Islamic Studies. She holds an advanced certificate in Islamic Studies as well as a general ijaaza in Islamic sciences. She worked in New York City from 2001 - 2005 as an Islamic Studies school teacher in an Islamic school. She also worked as a residential manager for many years overseeing service to adults with developmental disabilities and behavioral health challenges. She relocated to Dallas, Texas to help her husband establish the Arabic language and Islamic studies program at TAQWA Seminary. She later became co-founder of the Islamic Seminary of America and managed the Islamic studies and Arabic language programs there, with over 200 students in attendance.
