This is the Forth of a new series of books for students of school-going age. The series is called History of Islam, and it presents the history of Islam from the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) until the end of the Ottoman Empire. The series, with its unique features, meets a need which has to date been given insufficient attention. The first book has been written for students in the fourth grade level. The book is of moderate length, so as to give the school flexibility of choice. For example, it can be taught as a once-a-week, standalone subject, or incorporated into the school's Social Studies or Islamic Studies curriculum. The Islam is Beautiful book for first grade has 64 pages and 28 lessons. The lessons deal with different subjects, such as some short surahs of the Holy Quran, the Prophet's biography, manners, and the rules of the acts of worship. The following topics are included in this level: Surahs al-Ma'un, al-Takathur, and Ayah al-Kursi and their meanings. Love for the Holy Quran, encouragement to embrace their uniqueness, and characteristics of the people of Paradise so students can strive to be among them. The manners of gatherings, proper behavior with family and relatives, being tolerant and forgiving of others, the manners of clothing, removing harm from the path, blessing one who sneezes, and spending money for Allah’s sake. How important it is to worship Allah, how to purify oneself, how to perform wudu, the tashahhud and the Abrahamic prayer, and how to have khushu’ when praying. Some aspects of the Prophet’s biography, including his life as an orphan, his work as a shepherd and in commerce, the story of his encounter with the monk Buhayra before he became a prophet, and his mercy.
