The purpose of the book: To provide learners of Arabic, who are non-native speakers, with a repertoire of common idiomatic expressions in the Arabic language, to acquaint them with their meanings, and to train them to use these expressions in various contexts, thereby enriching their linguistic knowledge. The importance of studying idiomatic expressions: Idiomatic expressions are the distinctive feature of each language compared to others. Most learners of Arabic—whether they are native speakers or speakers of other languages—face greater difficulties in understanding idiomatic expressions than they do with understanding other vocabulary and grammatical structures.
